Jill Sheldon opened the floodgates of my potential. Out of my coaching sessions with her a significant writing project was born when I had been bone dry. And, as a by product, the way in which I saw myself shifted so much that my business tripled at the same time.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a professional partnership that provides social-change leaders with structure and support for learning, visioning, goal-setting and accountability for greater success in meeting your mission.

As your coach, I will not only help you strategize and problem-solve, I will focus on helping you refine your ability to strategize and problem-solve in the future. I will help you see the roadblocks you put in your own way and learn to remove them, and stop putting them there in the first place!

In short, together we focus on the "content" of your work and goals as well as the "process" with which you approach your life and work, for long-term change and perspective.

What kinds of concrete results can I expect from coaching?

Am I a good candidate for coaching?

If you are ready to figure out how to stay connected to your vision AND feel satisfied and happy in your work and personal life, coaching can make all the difference. However, you must be prepared to be uncomfortable at times - this is honestly the only real requirement for change.
To get the most benefit from your coaching, you need be "coachable," which means ideally you are:

  • Open to receiving candid feedback and guidance
  • Willing and able to invest time in yourself and your development
  • Willing to communicate honestly
  • Open to new ideas and ways of thinking, and willing to try new approaches
  • Willing and able to do the work required
  • Willing to accept responsibility for your life and the decisions you make

How is coaching conducted?

Coaching is conducted through structured, insightful, and supportive conversations. While I do the majority of my one-on-one coaching over the phone, in-person sessions can be arranged with clients who live in the Seattle area. In each coaching session I listen, ask questions, contribute observations, offer guidance, and help you apply practical tools and techniques to clarify and focus on your vision, goals, strategies, plans and solutions.I also offer relevant resources, assessments and tools to help you reach your goals and deepen your learning.

Between coaching sessions, you will be completing assigments such as trying new behavior, keeping track of results, reading and asking for feedback. My clients also frequently email me between sessions to ask for advice or get encouragement and perspective.
