Consulting Services
3 things set me apart from other
consultants:
- I believe that you, as the leader of
your organization, have the wisdom and ability to achieve your
mission. My job is to use my expertise in leadership
development and change management to help get you there with grace and
skill. I am not and don't pretend to be an expert at your work.
- I bring a unique blend of candor and
compassion to my clients. I'm committed to telling the
truth as I see it without judgment or attachment, for greatest impact.
- With my coaching perspective and training in
systems thinking, I have a special knack for helping
organizations understand and skillfully navigate the human
dynamics that help or hinder your
work.
I also have 18 years of experience in multiple leadership roles in the
social sector, which my clients benefit from in multiple
ways.
Core offerings:
Strategic Planning I guide
social sector organizations through first-time business and strategic
planning and help groups that need to revisit their impact update their
plans. I believe it's extremely important to involve the community you
serve in your planning process, and am adept at working with high-profile
stakeholders to gather input and synthesize complex data. Group
discussions about what direction to go in can be sensitive and complex,
and I'm also skilled in guiding groups through this process in a retreat
setting. With my fundraising background, I'm also committed to making sure
that my clients address financial needs and implications in the planning
process.
My clients come out of the planning process with a renewed
commitment to their mission, new and stronger connections in the
community, clarity about goals, objectives, roles and responsibilities and
a timeline. (back to top)
Facilitation Social sector organizations
often find that bringing a skilled facilitator in to design and guide them
through important meetings, board and staff retreats makes an enormous
difference in both outcomes and group process. I am an expert in group
development and have facilitated many retreats and meetings, guiding
groups to meet their goals, make crucial decisions and form stronger
bonds. (back to top)
Board development In the nonprofit sector,
the engagement and configuration of the Board of Directors can make all
the difference in an organization's value. If the Board seems confused
about their role, isn't working well with the executive director or other
staff, board meetings are poorly attended or ineffective, I can help. An
assessment, training or retreat can help the Board get back on track and
become a highly-functional team, as they were meant to be. (back to top)
Fundraising assessment and
planning If your fundraising efforts are not yielding
desired results, a fundraising assessment may be an excellent investment.
Through a careful examination of your fundraising strategies, systems and
team, I can provide insight and analysis to take your organization to a
new level of fundraising strategy and success.
In addition to an
objective assessment of potential, you will receive recommendations
tailored to your mission, organizational assets and connections. I have a
strong background in fundraising and philanthropy in the Pacific NW and am
familiar with many of our region's foundations and corporate giving
programs. (back to top)
Organizational
assessment If your organization is experiencing high
turnover, low staff morale, disengagement of the board or persistent
problems in a particular program, an organizational assessment may be a
great first step toward solving the problem. I will review your
organization's history, current leadership, program challenges and other
systems, compare with best practices, and give you a candid assessment
with recommendations for positive change. (back to top)
Interim Leadership Hiring an interim
Executive Director or Development Director can be a great solution for
organization that is facing a transition in these key leadership
positions. Hiring a part-time Interim Director can give the Board of
Directors an opportunity to reflect and assess where the organization is
and what qualities and skills they need in a new leader. Plus, I can offer
advice, support and guidance to the board and staff as they navigate the
challenge of finding a new leader, help with the search itself and keep
the organization functioning and healthy during a time of intense change.
